Any suggestions on mod? 2001 XJ8
There are countless threads on these. The Intake will depend on the flow you get, and diameter. The gains are mostly in sound, but with a smoother flowing higher diameter, there are some extra ponies there. There's a thread where a gent made up custom sizes and tested as he went, a very good read. However, depending on the filter used, some people have had MAF issues from the filter oils present. So it depends on if you're going for power, or just for the sake of putting it on and listening to more noise from the bay.
Most people with the exhaust remove the center chamber and X pipe it, or they'll remove the rear boxes and straight pipe the tips. There are plenty of people that have done it and it's a lot of threads with opinions on the sounds and options. That's going to be a lot of what your preference is in sound quality.

Pretty much agree with Mark. You can't even spray nitrous in these engines unless you change to forged pistons. These naturally aspirated engines are extremely limited concerning above and beyond performance. Sell the XJ8 and buy an XJR if you want more performance.
Idk.. It wasnt in the dealership for more than a month I believe..
How long ago did you trade it?

The OEM setup is a "cold air" intake, if you install one of the cone type filters in place of the airbox, you will actually be getting a "hot air" intake as it pulls air from under the hood/engine area.
You do get more intake sound, but you sacrifice HP.
Oh, and yes, sell the XJ8 an buy and XJR, that is the cheapest, best way to get more, better engineered HP.
