I saw this mod somewhere on the web, Arden I think.
Anyway, I removed the armrest from the car and then removed the stupid, useless cup holder bracket. I used a Dremel to take out some of the plastic inside the cup holder assembly so the GPS would slide in when the lid was closed.
I used heavy duty Velcro to secure the GPS to the cup holder door assembly. (Keep it simple, right?)
I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the armrest into the cup holder storage area so I could thread the power supply to the GPS. If I like the arrangement, I'll wire the power supply to the cigar lighter socket, but for now I just plug it in.
I kept the cup holder bracket in case I ever want to return it to stock configuration.
Works great and is a good replacement for the less than useful cup holders in our 308's.

Vector....I like your thinking, neat looking arrangement.
Just one thing though...it would be a bit hard to see properly while driving as you gotta averty your eyes which is dangerous.

Nice job - do you use a remote antenna for that unit?

I rely on the voice commands when moving, so not so bad. I gave mine a British accent and call her "Angela," lol!Originally Posted by xjay8

I think looking at a dash or windshield mounted GPS still takes your eyes off the road too, though not so much.

I doesn't need a remote antenna, works just fine the way it is.Originally Posted by rocklandjag
