Cool Bad fuel pump connection, '03 XJ8

I pulled a fuel pump yesterday and was about to install the new pump and noticed that the connection at the pump is bad. Is there an easy source for these? Looks like it was a short.

Did the new pump come with a connector?

I got the Denso kit with filter, which included any wiring needed. The connector was also different than for the pumps that were in the tank, probably OEM. If it's an OEM pump you got, you may be able to source a harness, part no LNC3360CA

When the pumps start to go they often pull more amps and can overheat the connector -- this is common. I guess enough to melt the connector and not pop the fuse. Jaguar sells the harness if it needs to be replaced along with a new pump.

I believe you will find the pump is bad .. pulling too many amps

Yep, also check the EVAP flange at the the top of the tank as well, sometimes the pins get burnt on that end too.

No direct part for the primary pump that I could fine. Was able to find a PN for the secondary pump in the dual pump supercharged models that can be spliced in. Got it on eBay new for $135. Local price was $185+tax. PN: LNC 3360CA. Used would have been $25.

Another horrible pitfall for the fuel pump job. lol

Here is a link to SNG Barratt web page for a blow up of the fuel tank components. They have the link you are looking for.
https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...S%20AND%20ORVR

If you haven't done so yet take advantage of the free download of their electronic catalog. It's great for parts ID and assembly blow ups.
