'92 Fuel pump fuse keeps blowing: Bad pump?
A friends '92 keeps blowing the fuse for the Fuel pump. Will sometimes within minutes, sometimes within days. Can't find a patter, but I am not the one driving the car. Besides relpacing the fuel pump, any specific suggestions to look for? Grounds, relays, etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

This certainly implies an intermittent short somewhere in the system. The electrical manual is available in the download section of this forum, so that's a good place to look for possible problems. The first place I would suspect would be the electrical connector on the top of the fuel tank, which connects to the in-tank fuel pump module. That connector is known for deteriorating and shorting. Unfortunately it's not easy to get to without pulling the tank, but you may be able to inspect it by removing the bulkhead trim in the trunk and following the wiring up underneath the foam insulating pad to the connector.
The fuel pump relay on a '92 is in the engine compartment near the brake pedal housing, with a yellow base. Check for corrosion on the relay base that may be shorting across terminals.
The fuel pump circuit test procedure at the link below is for the '93/'94 models, which are a little different, but the principles may be helpful in tracking down your friend's issue (procedure courtesy of Bryan N at the Jag-Lovers XJ40 forum). Bryan's procedure has helped me solve every problem we've had with our fuel pump circuit:

If your friend doesn't have the Haynes manual or Jaguar service manuals, see the download section of this forum.
