Not sure if this will help or not. I have a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 and was recently experiencing similar issues.

I bought a brand new battery at VIP and it kept discharging. I thought it was some weird drain issue or immobilizer, as the car sometimes would not start.

I sometimes got the car running by jump starting it even if the battery was fully charged.

I was going to have the battery replaced at VIP under warranty. They tested it and said it was fine and would check to see what the problem was. They charge a diagnostic fee, but I didn't care at this point as I wanted the car to start.

They discovered a bad starter for one, but also tracked down several bad wires. I think they told me one had been burned, but not sure where. They repaired the whole thing and that cured all my problems with battery discharge, starting, etc.

Something you might want to check out anyway.

Bruce,

Thank you for your kind words. It's always gratifying when we work together and solve problems. I would sure love to know what wires were repaired in your car. Is there any way you could get that information from your shop? It might help others if they knew specifically where to look for wire damage.

Cheers,

Don
