Default Battery current at different key positions

hi all,
While I was able to find the numbers for the key off position (position 0), I didn't find any for key positions I and II (while the engine is not running)
Of course these will depend on few things, like radio, aircon, lights etc. being on, also whether the radiator fans are running, also (I think) in position I whether you got there from 0 or from engine running state.

Anyway, to be specific: Battery current in position I and II while all possible items (radio, aircon, lights ...) switched off and getting there from position 0, not by turning off the engine.

If you wonder why I need this: I have normal battery drain while off. Recently I was working on the car and I needed to keep the key in position I or II, to test few things. While nothing which should need much power was switched on, after very short time my battery (which is almost new) was drained. There must be huge current, possibly a short. I plan to measure the current and start a hunt for the fault, but while at it I'd like to know what are the normal/OK values.
(I have the electrical diagrams, thanks)

many thanks,
BTW: the car is Daimler Super V8, MY1998

The first question is what was the state of charge (voltage) of your battery before you started the tests. If the car had been sitting for a couple of weeks prior to that, the battery would have been fairly low. Another question is how long was the "very short time".

As for the position I, there shouldn't be much drain if everything was off. Still, there could have been a few Amps draw. In the position II, the current draw is quite significant - the charge cooler pump would be running and the throttle body's motor would be energised by the ECU. This is recognised by a buzzing sound coming from the TB. In addition, all car modules would have been "alive", expecting the start-up. I would say that, at the position II, the current draw is probably around 10 Amps.

Anyhow, take the Amps readings and let us know. I also have a Super V8 (1999) so I may have some time later in the week to take the same readings for comparison.

The first step in chasing a parasitic drain is to have the battery load tested and then fully charged. Then follow the link below and go to post #4 it is a simple and very effective way to find a circuit causing a voltage drain.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...estion-207312/

Once you have found the offending circuit, you can got to JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource and download the electrical manual for your vehicle. Once you know the circuit we can help trouble shooting it.

Another way to look at it is the pin 4 to pin 5 as you remove the key

This starts the shutdown sequence so the car will go to sleep after it checks the security
