I have a low tech workaround for this problem too. I have a folded red rag that I wrote “Battery” on with a magic marker. I toss the rag on the drivers seat when I hook up the battery tender. Simple, but it works for me!

 

Ok now I see an application for the wireless transmission of power. A solar panel transforms the sun's rays,
and sends microwave signals to a microwave receiver in the car which keeps the battery on high usable levels.
No wires, no fuss. Shades of Nikola Tesla!

I don't have the wireless version of your vision, but I do have a Schumacher 4.8 watt solar charger that I put on the dash of any of my cars that is going to have to sit outside for couple of weeks without being started. It does pretty well to keep the battery charge up, but if I let a car sit a couple of months it may not do the job if there aren't enough sunny days. I've noticed there are now 10-watt solar chargers available. May be worth checking out. My Shumacher looks like this. I also have a small module, also by Schumacher, that connects in the solar panel circuit to prevent battery overcharging. On a Jag, I connect the panel's clips to the jump-start terminals under the hood, run the wire near the hinge of the passenger door, and lay the panel on the dash.

Say Don....Nikola had some very interesting concepts. Some that could seriously compromise the current
electrical utility methods of getting reimbursement for provisioning. That is a subject for a different forum.
I also use a couple of small however efficient solar panels to keep some of my cars charged. That would
not work in the Duchess because she is garaged when she's not attending the public. I have noticed that
on those trucks/cars, with the 12-volt panels, the battery seems to last a great deal longer.

 

What's amazing is no one has figured out Tesla's theories to replicate them, ..or that we know of? My own curiosity about it was the government removal of the Wardenclyffe Tower on Long Island after Tesla's death. That was supposedly the beginning of free electricity and communication for everyone.
But, as you've noted, this is a subject for another forum.

 

The FBI called John G. Trump (Donald Trump's Uncle) to make sure Tesla's 'purported' DEATH MACHINE was not in the estate belongings before the stuff was carted away.

That could be however, I can tell you that the US patent office is leaky as a sieve and many
things that could have been will not be because big money stands to lose. I suggest that I
will just keep my "wireless transmission of power" ideas to myself and continue to hook up
my wired battery charger to keep dormant batteries charged.

 

Don't you have an online shops there? i've got mine delivered to door, was cheaper then if purchased locally and could choose the brands. I like driving, but having to move back and forward after every little thing makes me nervous.

Yep time is a factor, but given that you was into this search already two weeks ago and had to spend half of day out of your life going after stuff + few calls, me i always choose the easy route and save energy for nicer things. I sometimes find myself purchasing online even simplest things, that i could source locally but don't want to, but here shipping takes two days at most to deliver.

 

Negative I spent maybe 1.5 days on it, I started the search, nothing local , days/week later resumed found online was 7-9 days out for delivery, decided to drive 1.5 hours. Mission complete, great battery @ a great rate even w/ fuel costs it was still a deal.

Got the Duralast Platinum AGM H8/49 w/ a 3 year warranty I see online for $240ish w/ core $219. I walked out of their w/ mine @ $182. Gotta love military towns & "courtesy discounts" lol.




Not sure why spoiler tags up & seemingly non-removable lol.

But big car batteries are not my ideal online purchase. I mean should warranty/return issues arise it's a hassle in my opinion.


 

The local Walmart stocks the H8 batteries. I am in then out in minutes.
I have always liked the Bosche Platinum series.

 

Yeah the 3 WMs here are like Walking Dead outposts, minimum stock & staff.

 

I use the Everstart series in my '77 Silverado Step-side and it seems to do the job well
and last well beyond warranty. Walmart managers tend to frown on batteries that sit
on the shelf too long, however I have had good results with asking that they restock
when the need arises. Knowing the automotive manager seems to help.

 

Yeah I have no issues w/ Walmart's ES batteries infact they fared very well here.

 

I've probably mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread that only three automotive battery manufacturers remain in North America: Clarios (formerly the battery division of Johnson Controls, now owned by Brookfield Business Partners), Exide, and East Penn.

Between them, the three companies manufacture virtually all automotive batteries sold in North America, including just about any brand you can name: Everstart, Interstate, DieHard, Duralast, Mopar, Motorcraft, ACDelco, Optima, Duracell, The Legend, Deka, Super Start, Valucraft, AAA, Odyssey, Exide, etc.

For years, the Bosch automotive batteries were manufactured by Valeo, but today the Bosch batteries sold in North America are manufactured by Clarios and Exide.

I have used the Walmart Everstart batteries in many of my vehicles and appreciated their decent warranty and ease of getting a replacement either free, or on a pro-rated basis. Today I primarily use NAPA batteries because I get a discount at our local store.

But these days, whether you buy the top-model flooded lead acid or AGM battery from any given brand, it's probably no better or worse than the top model from any other brand.
