Default Best Shocks.

I own a x308 XJ8 SWB. And My shocks failed. I know i don't have CATS but i don't know if I have the Sport Suspension Or the Comfort Suspension. I believe I could use both? I want to replace all the shocks so I decided to use http://amzn.to/2bcW5eq < this is Standard suspension (rear). http://amzn.to/2aZg5Ub < Standard Suspension (front).
http://amzn.to/2aZfy4x < this is with the sport suspension(rear).
http://amzn.to/2b5sjwc < Front with Sport Suspension(front).
http://amzn.to/2aSPwgJ < I might need this because there is some orange coming out of mine.

Thanks!

Just changed all those parts in the front and intend on getting the rear swapped this week. Check rockauto.com for better pricing on all those parts - that's where I got mine.

I didn't go with Bilstein but rather KYB "gas-a-just" units, the new front shocks seem fine but they've only been on the car a few days and I changed other things that would also improve the ride, so no idea how much the new shocks contributed.

ooooh the prices are way cheaper here. But still deciding between KYB and Bilstein. I would suggest to put NOS Octane Booster and Horsepower Restore will really bring a difference in the performance and smoothness of the ride. Plus changing the fuel filter. Thanks for the site man!!!

Umm, ya' do know, the octane booster products are snake oil...

So long as the octane is high enough that the engine doesn't have to reduce performance to avoid premature combustion, the greater octane makes no perceivable difference. In the x308 91+ octane is supposedly sufficient, I've been using 93 and never heard a ping.

Bilsteins are excellent quality shocks, up with the best. As they are also the OEM shocks and thus perfectly matched to the car, that makes them a no-brainer.

I've used KYB in the past and while they are sometimes OK, at other times they were very badly matched to the car's spring rate. I put them on the front of my XJS V12 and the front end wallowed like a boat. Their rears on the other hand were fine on the XJS. What's the use of them when they can't sell a set that works on all 4 wheels?

I put sports shocks on my last X308 with comfort suspension. It handled well but rode quite poorly, worse than my XJR.

That's what I did, too. The green shocks bought from AllShock.

There's a de gustibus argument involved. I've had KYB front shocks for circa 15k miles and they've been fine. The KYB/Bilstein shocks circa $100 (give or take) per shock are generally well-regarded on the forum. The circa $50 no-name shocks are to be avoided. Then, of course, $350 per shock to the dealer is a safe bet (safe except to your bank book). Note: This is for standard, not CATS shocks.

The real problem are the God-awful roads in the Northern VA/Washington DC area (where I live) and in many other winter-stricken regions of the US.

The $100 Bilstein shocks are exactly the same as the ones you get from the dealer, as Bilstein are the OEM.

I would disagree with the statement that KYB are well-regarded on this forum. Bilstein are, KYB are not.
