Body kits

I was thinking about putting a kit on my xjr however, from what I've found out, it'd have to be a custom job due to the fact I guess it's unheard of to put a kit on the xjr. I was looking into modifying the front bumber, the side skirts, and the rear bumber.

Actually, it's only as much a custom job as any other body kit. For instance, look at this pic of the x308 here:

It's just the standard Arden body kit for x308s. It's available, but bloody expensive!

I know this is an old forum but i've semi-recently acquired my 2000 XJ8 and prettied it up but now is the body kit. I've been starting the beginning stages of developing my own custom skirt/possible bumper addition set. While I'm working on this if anyone decides that they like it I would be interested in fabbing up some to ship out to others as I am located in the northeastern USA. -Moon Man
As for me, I am very pleased with the way the Duchess looks right now. I doubt I would consider
any plastic surgery, unless she had a scar I could not fix.

For me it was important to get a look which could have been factory designed // delivered, and the Glanz kit did it for me.
So not in need, but always interested to see things developing.
Feel free to ask if anything.
I hope you continued with your fabrication! I have a 2000 XJR and I'm in the SW US, AZ

The first thing I'd do is a partial chrome delete (U.S. spec XJR). My goal is to achieve the look of the later X350 cars with just an outer perimeter elipse of chrome around the side door greenhouse... change the window edge trim and B-post to satin black. The sides of the body are way too chrome "busy" and upright looking to my eye. The greenhouse would flow into the lower body instead of perching on top.
The car wrap people can do a good job with edge "tucking" the wrap film on all the door chrome pieces except that rear door quarter window stamping, which is one big hunk of glued-on, chromed aluminum. They tell me an edge that isn't "tucked" will lift in short order. So I'm debating how to handle that item. I guess the inner segment of chrome could be sanded and painted satin black to match the wrap, but wonder how well the paint would stick...Any other ideas (besides don't do it)?

Agreed. Lines are classic as is. I used to go to a Saturday night car meet up with my ‘67 Cutlass and later my FFR Cobra. There would be everything from new sports cars, classics, T-buckets and street rods. The funniest thing would be a 10 year old Kia with a 100 hp engine, an aero kit with a table sized rear wing and low profile tires with chrome rims.
