Default BPM swap -- suffix number

Hi all,

Following my tail lights issue, it would seem that a body processor module change is the best option.

Problem is that if I can find plenty with same software number (LNC2500CH, which seems to be the latest version -- there are CE, CF, CG models, but nothing above H), but none of the sellers mentions the suffix.
In my case, it is 014, which I suppose is the Western European market or something. Most of the used parts are located in the UK and would have its specific settings, probably.

Is it worth trying to mount some random one, or is it doomed to be a waste of time and money?

As per the reprogramming: there are no shops around that can or want to work on this car. Even the only Jaguar dealer does not give a rat's *** about these old cars and only pushes to sell their diesel XFs or XEs (they had quoted me 1000+ € for a gearbox oil change).
Another option would be that I get the proper tool and do the reprogramming myself, but it sounds overkill.

In my personal experience dealing with bpm’s, I have never had to worry about the 3 (###) numbers after the LNC2500XX/###. Keep in mind this is dealing with ROW vehicles here in the U.S. I don’t know if it matters for European based cars or not. Since we have a reliable parts supplier, they would only sell us a component that worked on one of their parts cars before shipping it to us.

I haven’t looked at the wiring diagram but, I wanted to throw this your way. If your getting a signal going to the bpm but not out of the bpm, couldn’t you just tap into the wire where the signal is going into the bpm, run it to a heavy duty external relay and then run the appropriate wires to and from that HD relay to the rear lighting circuit?

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I don't see what differences thee could be between UK and Europe indeed, except for the LHD/RHD, which shouldn't matter. I guess. I should try it, could be valuable information for the rest of us XJ owners!

Asper your second post: I've thought doing that. I would powerthe rear lights, but most likely not suppress the dashboard warning, and it wouldn't pass the next MOT over here. Last resort solution then, means I'd keep the car for a maximum of two additional years...
