I have to replace rear brake lines for inspection. I unsuccessfully tired to splice in new lines to the existing lines with a double flair tool and unions. It keeps leaking
I think I have to replace the lines front to rear. I can't trace the lines because they disappear under heat shielding on top of the trans. .
Question: Which line from the brake control goes to which wheel? I can trace line 3 to the left front.
My configuration looks a little different. The lines go back together on the left side of the body rail.
In desperation, I decided to try re flaring the lines one last time and... success. not leaking. I bled the system pedal feels good. So I didn't have to replace the whole system.
I replaced a rusted section of the fuel line, compression fitting, and a few other things, painted over some rust with POR paint (great stuff) and dropped it off at the inspection garage and am awaiting results.
750 USD for the car, 450 for the trans, 200 miscellaneous stuff, . Its a 2002 xj8 , 70,000 miles, very good shape.
Thx for the info, I hope it masses Maryland inspection, jeffxj8
