Being new to this most wonderful site, I am a bit confused as how to zoom onto specific topics so I'm posting this in hope of being directed to the help I need.

I have started getting the P1229 code for the ETCC but it checks out fine. When I have the cruise control button on, the engine lite goes off with the warning and cruise control is lost. When I get the P1229 code, the car goes into safe mode with trac and asb disabled warning goes off. Cut car off, wait 2 minutes and it goes for miles, sometimes 20, sometimes 200 before it happens again. This just started about 2 months ago and I have followed the instructions on cleaning and checking the ETCC and cleaning the throttle body.

I have read where the brake switch could be the problem but also it is a bear to change.

Any help or direction to links would be greatly appreciatied.
