Default Are the British short?

Sat in the back of my XJ8 for the first time yesterday. I'm 6'2". Surprised that my head brushed the headliner.

I am 6 feet, anything taller. X308 will be too small for you.

that is the trade off for the low roof line, but the design is timeless.

I agree. Not like I’ll ever be back there again.

The X308 Vanden Plas and XJ8 L, has an extended wheelbase and a different roof line which allows for not only increased leg room for rear passengers, but also increased rear headroom.

But, it is true that inherently the British folk are "smaller/shorter" than their comparative American cousins. British cars are/were traditionally smaller overall than American cars. A Jaguar in the UK was considered a "full size" car, whereas only a "mid-size" here in the US, although today I think the Brits are getting bigger, and the American cars are getting smaller, and the Japanese cars getting bigger, so who knows what the measurements are today.

i’m 6’4 and skinny, no problems with swb or lwb driver seat

swb rear seat is compact car sized, i can squeeze in but no chance to be comfy. lwb is fine, i had a 6’6 guy in the back no problem

I’ve now had 3 LWB Jags, one x300, one x350 and now an x308. I love being able to give rear pax that extra leg room. But my biggest beef is that the front passenger seat does to track far enough back for my taste and folks with long legs or more, shall we say, portly folks end up with knees under their chins or uncomfortably close to the air bag. I once asked a body shop if they would install longer rails and their answer was, roughly translated, not a chance in hell, mate.

I opted for the LWB models after owning my first Jag, an ‘89 XJ40. I agree with Xalty, the legroom in a standard wheel base model is more compact car-sized. I’ve looked at the XF models and with the sloping roof line I’m not sure I’d want to ride back there and I’m just 5’ 9”.

For aesthetic reasons Jaguar didn't want to make the car higher so it is what it is. (Tardis interior needed, really, but too expensive.)
