That XJR is a member here, VIAPA. He's done a few bolt-on mods that seem well sorted out.

 

So Tyler, are you going for their performance tweaks while the car's there?!

 

I'm worried if I ask it will seem to reasonable and I'll blow another 2-3k for a bit more torque. I better not.

 

A conservative approach is to order the Mina Gallery Performance PKG 6. That kit includes the 1.5psi pulley, air intake and Borla Cat-Back system. I think you'll be happy with that. Ask for a price and he'll likely give it to you!

 

Why did you tell me that. $1300 for a borla exhaust, supercharger pulley, and intake kit is a very good deal.

My only concern is subjecting the transmission to that 30+ extra horsepower and all that torque.

 

here's a little fact that might make your mind up, the gearboxin the XJR is manufactured my Mercedes Benz, they are fitted to many other vehicles including vans. the 580 designation in it's name relates to 580NM of torque (serious grunt). The AMG twin turbo SL can't destroy it, it's near bomb proof, as long as it's serviced correctly.

The ZF on the other hand fitted to XJ8's is the one that breaks.

It should be a great upgrade. But you have nothing to compare it to, really, since you haven't had the car yet...

 

If you watch the Youtube video closely the first pull is the Mina Gallery Pkg 6 kit. The second pull is the secondary upgrades. The key to getting the Mina Gallery price break is to order something like the upgraded headlights at regular price then call back a couple days later then ask for a price break on the Pkg 6 kit. He'll most likely give you the break. You'll mostly save around $200 to $300 with FREE shipping.
