Default Caliper Carrier to Hub carrier Bolt

I recently changed the brake rotors on my car and in the process I noticed that the dust boots were off the pistons, so I decided to get a rebuild kit and fix them up.

Today I was installing everything again and stupidly tightened the bolt connecting the rear caliper carrier to the hub carrier too tight causing it to snap. I am now trying to find the part number for a replacement but can only find one that is compatible with the "Performance R" brembo brakes (part number HXD6064EA). I was wondering if anyone knew the part number for the bolt used on the standard brakes as I have had no luck finding it online or in JTIS. It is a 15mm hex bolt that has threads running about half way up.

Thanks in advance
RP

Hi
UPDATE: Look at this thread in XK8/XKR section:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...n-58317/page2/

(see post #3 and post #12) Part number JZB100010 MSPR price is $2.80 each.

Also this other thread:

Part# HXD6064EA is BRAKE CALIPER BOLT - its description on britishparts.com is
SPECIAL BOLT CALIPER TO VERTICAL LINK
JAGUAR XJ8 - XJR 1998 - 2002 WITH R PERFORMANCE
JAGUAR XK8 - XKR WITH R PERFORMANCE

From the description above, this bolt looks like it is used on all XJ and XK models (standard XJ8, XJR, XK8, XKR, also R performance package).
You should be able to buy these bolts at your local jaguar dealership part department - MSPR is $13.25 each.

JTIS says: Install caliper carrier to vertical link.Align carrier to vertical link .Install and tighten bolts to 120 - 160 Nm.

I would call a Jaguar dealership parts and make sure it is the right part number for your XJR with standard brakes.

Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply and for clearing that up.
I saw the bolt on britishparts but found the description a bit confusing and noticed that it is 100% threaded compared to mine being 50% so thought it would be best to check that it wasn't specific to the Performance R brakes.

Thanks again
RP

edit:I was looking through JTIS and I now realise why I broke the bolt.

As Jim stated JTIS recommends tightening the bolts to 120-160nm, this is the number that I had in mind when I was working.

However this number is for the front mount, which has larger 17mm bolts. I was working on the back brakes which have smaller 15mm bolts which JTIS recommends tightening to 54-66nm.

No wonder it snapped... lesson learnt.

Hi
I was able to find the front and rear Caliper Carrier Mounting bolts in the JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog). Front Caliper Carrier Mounting bolt is part# JZB100010 (MSPR price is $2.80 each) and the Rear Caliper Carrier Mounting bolt is part# JZB100060 (MSPR price is $3.55 each)

Rear Caliper Carrier Mounting Bolt torque per JTIS (Install caliper carrier to hub carrier.Align carrier to hub carrier.Install and tighten bolts to 54-66 Nm).

I know this is an old thread -- But, I always replace the bolts whenever I take the calipers off. Often the threads on the old bolts can be damaged a little bit even if properly set - as this is by design and the new ones will come with the proper thread lock all ready to go. Not sure if they have this as a replace item on the Jaguar service procedure -- normal on Porsche and MB's

Some list them as $13 -- not sure where this is from ... I paid about $3 last year. For $12.00 you eliminate a lot of aggravation should you have a damaged bolt.

Where did you purchase the bolts? Was it your local Jaguar dealership parts dept?
SNG Barratt USA sells them for $2.55 and $3.09 each plus shipping $???.

Long time relationship with my local dealer. I normally get my parts from them. I can't remember the exact price I paid -- but they treat me well.

I keep my cars a long time so I'm never looking at it as the next owners problem .. it is usually me!

9 years after the last post. Some parts seem to become scarce?

It seems easy to find the 17mm front bolts (JZB100010) for 2-3 Euro, but the 15mm rear bolts (JZB100060) are really difficult to find and cost over 10 Euro.
Is there an alternative for these rear bolts? From another brand (Ford?). They seem pretty generic...

These bolts are not really generic - reduced head size (15 mm as compared to standard 19 mm), extra thick flange, 10.9 (high) steel grade and half length threaded (standard bolts in this length are fully threaded). I would not take risks here, the genuine Jag bolts are easily available from Barratt or DMG. Even if you find similar bolts from another car, they won't be much cheaper.
