Cam Cover DIY this weekend - What else while I am in there?
Hey fellow x308 owners. Have a troublesome oil leak and believe it is coming from rear driver side cam cover on my 01 XJR. Going to DIY cam cover replacement. Spark plugs are already new, so not worried about those. Also the tensioners were done about 2k miles ago which is where i think the previous owner either didnt replace the cam cover gaskets or mis installed.
Have the mahle set of cam cover gaskets from FCPEuro..
Anything else i should check or look into while I am in there?

So you are replacing the gaskets, not the cam covers themselves?!
Well, if you are not replacing the cam covers (which are plastic), have a detailed look for cracks. I found a unique way of fixing the cracks on mine - it's not ideal, but it works, but I also bought new cam-covers, just to have spares. Note on that: I do not have VVT. I think it was the left cam cover, which then differs on mine from those, who have VVT: I do not have the hole for the VVT sensor. But my cam cover would have been heaps more expensive - thus I bought the one WITH the hole and I have a "cunning plan" (just like Baldrick from Black Adder) of how to plug that hole.
This is my own "inventive" way to fix my old cam covers:
