Default Canadian spec DRL's

I have a Canadian spec X308. The headlight switch does not have auto, it just has the 3 normal positions. The headlights are always on when you turn the key. I believe this is to meet specification for the Canadian market. It's a minor annoyance, but I would prefer they turn on with the switch. Has anybody been able to rectify this?

Almost any Jaguar dealer can reprogram that to your desire, according to what
have read on these forums.

The body processor FC15-68 is the output to the 'dip-beam' relay.

I think I tried to enable DRL on the X308 with WDS/IDS and it does not work.
Either the #5 relay in the Engine Compartment Fusebox is 'hardwired' or the Body Processor VCATS (software) is different to the Canadian or Norwegian markets and it 'commands' the #5 relay to be ON with IGNITION ON.

Never really paid attention to the Canadian cars because we don't see many here in Texas!

The Canadian Jaguars have had daytime running lights since 1990 in all models to comply with regulations. The difference between Jaguars and other cars is that Jags have ALL the exterior lights (except fog lights) illuminated when the gear selector is in D.
The wisdom of this is easily and frighteningly recognised when you suddenly come upon a grey Honda or (fill in a brand) after dark: front lights on, nothing else on.

Other than the lifespan of the lights being diminished, I see no reason for NOT
implementing an "always on" solution. I may take the Duchess down and have
that done, although keeping her completely stock has always been a priority,

If you have 'twilight sentinel' you can block off the light sensor on the rearview mirror to keep the lights on with the ignition key.(cheap way to DRL)

I'm right there with you on keeping it stock. I just think it's a very lousy solution to meet the Canadian regulation. The car is also in the states now. I would prefer the lights not be on in parallel with the starter. That probably annoys me the most. Also if I sell it I have to explain the lights being on all the time is not a fault.

That's great to know. I love the way we find solutions to most things,
and that we share them is stellar.
