To me , pre Ford Jaguars are now antique collector cars and therefore allowed to have quirks and eccentricities that cannot be tolerated in daily drivers. ( perhaps unforgivable when new though)

Ford did a great job by giving them the money to build their cars right but the X100 and 308 in were one step forward and two steps back. V8 was obviously rushed out the door, trans isn’t good on the NA cars and more module problems especially on earlier cars.

The 300 was the first reliable XJ, it had a drivetrain that actually worked along with fairly modern and professional wiring. The 308’s a better car but without a doubt has more issues.
