Default Cell phone holder? What's your set up?

Our cup holders are terrible to hold cell phones, as they slide all over the place. What mount have you purchased that looks good and its not too intrusive?

Pics welcomed.

Do you not fear that it can break one of the vent slats?

Negative, it's firm yet pliable ABS rubber(the vent gripper) so it gives when stressed but the holder stays stable due to the locking/twist nut connector on the back of the cradle.

Been through a few via trial & error on Amazon, this one is a keeper for me.

Why would I want to hold my cellphone? I put it in my centre console, under the armrest. I don't use it while driving.

some of us play music through our phones, or use a tape adaptor for a pseudo bluetooth system, also when driving in unknown areas they become our navigation systems, or in heavy traffic we use waze for faster routes...

I have an aftermarket head unit w/ bluetooth hands free & aux streaming capabilities. Having the phone mounted on the vent nearest the clock is very cohesive to use.

I use one of these: http://www.abt.com/product/94691/Scosche-MAGDM.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=sc&utm_cam paign=MAGDM&camptype=cpcGooglePLA&kwid=productads-plaid^169454173684-sku^94691-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^77416723924

It's mounted on the wooden trim just to the left of the center vents. It gives me a couple things. It's close, not too far to drop my eyes from the road IF I have to, my charger will reach it, and it's simple. I have the metal plate for it inside the skin case on my phone, not physically attached to the phone, but still holds it just fine from within. Plus, being where it is, is JUST over the left corner of the vent, so if I'm using the phone hard and it starts to get warm, I can vent cool air and chill it down.

Is it mounted with adhesive?

I usually place my phone inside the door card pocket ( Is that the correct name for it? )

It is, but I get the feeling it's nothing that some simple Goo Gone couldn't remove off the panel if/when the time comes. I like being able to just get in and 'stick' my phone to it and drive away. The little metal plate is inside the case, so it doesn't cause any issues being on the outside of the case while it's on a table or anything, but still holds very secure on the mount, even through the case.

awesome!! and thank you for the picture. That is a perfect place especially if you play music or use it for navigation.

Kuda USA sidecar mount. They make them with all the common interior colors; there's a metal tab that fits under the wood trim, and a non-destructive tab that catches the bottom passenger edge of the console. Blank face, so, you can mount a standard cell mount to the face and put the phone in a cradle. Out of the way, yet still accessible.

Thats very clean... Do you have any pictures with the phone cradle installed? Based on from the pictures it seems like the phone would sit a bit low and horizontal. Do you like the position?

The website loads extremely slow. I will try again tomorrow.

I think my suspicion is correct. It places a cell phone where an old car phone would sit / lay. Not very useful for navigation use.

and can we take a moment to appreciate the technology of the cell phone pictured??? looks like 1998

This is where I usually put my phone. The only times it's moved is on a mountain road. But around town no problem.

Yeah, but....you don't mount things flat on the base. You get a little creative...and mount things on swivel mounts:

Ham radio control head as seen from the driver seat.

How it's mounted. That is a standard AMPS mount backplate. You just have to be a bit creative and think outside the box; what Kuda puts on their site is only a suggested way of mounting...doing a little investigation and web searching will lead to many creative ways of doing what you need to do without having to drill into your $2000. console, stick tape on your veneer, or have things rattling around the cockpit.

And besides...when it's time to sell the car (which may or may not be applicable), all you have to do is remove the Kuda mount, the car is back to absolute stock, there are no holes drilled in the original finishings, and you would never know that it was in place.

Think outside the box.
