Default changing rear view mirrors

I read a few great advices on how to remove the mirror and was hoping to just swap between my broken Jag and my "new" Daimler.. problem is.. the new one has a rain sensor.. so I cant just swap the whole mirror.

can I just swap the "glass" ? meaning can I get the ball joint open? afraid to use force.. is there even a chance to then disconnect the wires? or will that blow the whole thing?

any Idea of what to do?... the "Daimler" mirror doesnt dim anymore.. the old one is perfect.. looks like someone just put a new glass on top of the original one.. sucks

Pry the bezel in the middle and see if you can transfer the glass onto the other mirror.

I have both mirrors on my desk.. but the new car has the rain sensor thus a different plug for the mirror. and the old one doesnt. .?
any chance at all I can use the old mirror with the new rain sensor?
