Default Code 23 AC switch test?

Wifes 2001 VDP is throwing out a code 23 on the AC unit. I tested the pressure level and it looked good. When I clear the code the compressor will spin and cool the cabin for about 2 minutes then.....code 23.

Is there a test for the AC pressure switch. I assuming its the 4 prong silver cylinder next to the high side AC Port.

Thanks in advance.......

I'm sure this guide is in the large file download section that I added years ago.

You need to diagnose the fault. Maybe a faulty switch?????????????

I would use DATALOGGER (WDS,IDS,Autologic etc.) to watch the switch but that requires a Jaguar specific diagnostic equipment.

You could swap the switch with a 'KNOWN GOOD PART' from another car.
The switch unscrews and does NOT require system evacuation (there is a valve in the connector).

Bob,

Wow! thank you for the precise info. I was under the impression that the switch required a system evac. Good to know it does not. The AC will run and start to cool for a few minutes then throw a code 23. The sensor is cheap enough to swap out a known unit. Any avoided trip to the indy or dealer is a good one.

Well that was a bust. Still throwing out code 23.

More info:

High side line gets hot, low side gets warm. Put a gauge on the low side and it steadily climbs up and up and up until the compressor kicks off.

Thoughts?
