Default Color navigation in XJR

Hi there.

Take a look at these pictures.
Apparently someone has taken the effort og building in a touchscreen navigation system in the dash where the center air vents usually are.

From the pictures it looks quite good, but it would require a whole new center dashpiece.

It is taken from:
http://www.bilbasen.dk/brugt/bil/jag...0-v8-sc/647748

the site is in danish, but just click on the photos of the Jag.

The dealer is situated approx 300 km from me, so I can't be bothered and go see it "live"..

not bad, I can see alot of work in that install; the custom wood piece looks nice, except for the incorrect color and/or grain to the rest of the dash.

I think it's a massive job with colossal effort that requires a lot of things , it is worth it ? I don't think so considering now you can buy a portable navi at the markets

Probably the rear center console vents...
At least the guy used Jaguar parts for his mod.

OK The wood doesn't match and the vents are questionable but it doesn't look too bad IMO. If they had taken the time to match the veneer and maybe found some vents that suited a little better it would look factory. Why this sort of Nav was never offered in the X308 when it was in the XK at the time is beyond me but still it doesn't look that bad.

But Cadillac is right, there are so many very clever portable Sat Navs on the market today. Mine can be programmed with the vehicle dimensions, so if I am in my Coach it will keep me away from unsuitable roads or low bridges but can quickly change to the car profile when using it in the car.

LOL

He used vents from a XJ6 dash

95 96 97 JAGUAR XJ6 LEFT DRIVERS DASH VENT WOODGRAIN - eBay (item 110630908706 end time Apr-01-11 16:23:10 PDT)

I'm more thinking of replacing the radio with a touchscreen carpc with navigation/music/movies/OBDII dash etc..

Ofcourse with a nice jag logo on bootup

I believe this was available as a 'special option' from Jag (maybe in limited countries only)- the centre piece is fabricated by a third party company. The offset screen doesn't seem to look right:

on another car:

The original poster's link - I think it looks particular bad as the vent fins should have been horizontal- they vertical ones hugely distracts the lines of the dash.
