Coolant draining
Doing a flush and coolant replacement. Read all the post and sticking with orange WSS-M97B44-D. Flushing with water just results in a little more than a gallon each time. It's clear after several flushes with tap water. Want to get tap out so can fill with distilled and coolant. Could do several flushes with distilled since it's not that expensive. Not going to mess with block drain plug. I have a suction pump. If I pop the top of the thermostat housing, will the suction hose snake down far enough to get fluid out of the block?
I don't think so. Normally, you unfasten the lower radiator hose and add water through the reservoir (in the old days, you would even run the motor during this purge). But that seems overkill if you are already getting clear water.
. . . actually, as I review an old tool I have in my tool box (a t-pipe with a hose connection to run through a cut heater hose, with a fitting to redirect the overflow); disconnect the upper hose (makes a mess if you don't redirect the water).
