Hi all, sorry for the extreme title, but it is a crazy oil leak. Was driving home late tonight and noticed a strong smell of burning oil. I though it was the few cars next to me, but realize it was mine because my car was smoking. I continued driving it for about 3 miles, thankfully, until I reached my house. The moment I parked, I can see all the smoke coming out. As I looked underneath the car, with a flashlight, I see a streak of small drain (best way to describe it) coming down from right under the bell housing. I don't think it's the transmission oil because it looks and smells like engine oil. I did a few reading from the forum and there were a couple results showing the failure of the rear main seal and a loose hex bolt in the engine block. Hopefully those are not the problem! Any ideas what I should look at before I tackle these jobs..hopefully it's not them. Thanks all

 

Oil coming out in a steady stream is very likely from one of those two sources, but I would check around the back of the valve covers also.

 

Thanks much. I checked the valve cover and it's not it. Must be one of the 2 as you've said.
