Default Dash lights replacement

Seems my dash lights are failing. From left to right they seem to be burning out. Is there a write up on replacing the dash lights? How difficult is it to get behind the gauges (Speedo, tach etc) to replace the lighting?

Any info is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Pat

Very easy. Pull the wood off from ipk area. Remove the screws andpull ipk forward. Disconnect and remove pack. Replace bulbs and reinstall. You may want to disconnect battery prior to commencement. Also set steering column out and down.

Thanks to both of you. Would you please clarify what IPK stands for?? I have been looking through my on-line manual for dash removal, but I can't find a description or illustration depicting the "pack" you mention.

Is there a "best" place to get these bulbs? or is the dealer the place to go.

Thanks for everything

IPK is abbreviation for instrument pack. Look under fascia, major gauge? Probaly fascia removal will see remove ipk and refer to sro **.**.** That should give you what you need. Easy job. The bulbs are twist in holders on back of pack.
Get the bulbs from the dealer. I have to do mine also. If you cannot find, I will take pics as I do mine this weekend and post Saturday evening.

That was the cheapest trip I will ever have at the Jag dealer. $5.68 for four replacement bulbs and I figure 20 minutes of my time.

Lol. Glad it worked out. I am thinking of going with purple for mine. Going to change all including doors, shifter etc.

I think they are more if you buy the glass bulb and plastic holder together. I just bought the four glass bulbs and reused the plastic holder

Hi,

I need to replace a dash bulb, one of the bulbs illuminating the speedo and the rpms. The problem is I cannot find which is the correct bulb. I have XJR from 2000.

could you send me the bulb specifications or even better the part Id number?

thanks a lot.

it should have it written on it, mine said Toshiba 14V 3.4W, they're a T3 "wedge" fitting, I've gone LED, fit and forget for the lifetime of the vehicle, you might as well do all 8 in the IPK.
