I'm putting my 2000 XJR back together, when I took it apart almost three years ago I found this broken piece of hose, and now I don't know where it came from or what it goes to. It is made of a hard ribbed plastic with a rubber piece of hose at the end as a connector, this rubber piece is covered in a braided nylon hose protector. This is only a piece of the hose as the hose broke apart (probably due to overheating) so I don't know how long it is. I've got 90% of the car back together and I can't find any obvious connector missing a hose. Any help identifying it would be great. Thanks.

Reason: typo
That’s the part load breather. Just pretend there’s a cylinder head and valve cover there. This is where it connects to the evap purge (?). Left hand side below the the throttle body. Hope this helps.

I thought it might be that breather but it's not. I just replaced that one, here is the old one that came off the car. It is similar to this one, it also has the rubber piece of hose at the end but no nylon cover.
In post #1, it looks to me like you (or someone) cut a piece of ribbed plastic tube, and intended to use the rubber hose to join it to the old part load breather tube, perhaps to repair it where it was broken.
That idea is probably not helpful if you absolutely know it’s not related to the part load breather tube, but I would guess that you later decided to just replace the entire PLBT, and now you have this piece left over! Or not....?

I absolutely know this was not joined to the end of my breather hose because I disconnected that end of it from the purge valve myself just a few days ago when I replaced the breather hose.
