Dead radio after battery change

I had the battery changed in my '02 XJ8 and now the radio will not power up.
I understand about entering the codes that I have but I can't even get the screen to light up. Is the thing "blocked" or is there a way to enter the codes that I am not aware of?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem? my dads car took to jaguar dealer and they messed around with it for a while gave it back and now radio does not work or power on? check the basics fuses relays etc not sure what they did?
The radio systems have the capability of playing dead in case they are stolen and/or power is removed from the radio. Most North American cars have this feature disabled but yours may be enabled. You will need the correct code to turn it back on. A dealer should be able to supply that code based on your VIN and disable that feature if you choose. As an alternative I would write the code on the inside of the hood/bonnet.
The code is requested on the screen and entered via the keypad, so you first have to find why the HU won't power up.
I have noticed that sometimes after the power has been disconnected from these units it is necessary to hold the on button in for a few seconds before they fire up.

I am new in this forum and had the same problem in the same year/model Jag. How did you finally solved the problem?
