I've been digging around in the forums and seen mentions of auto-dimming outside mirrors fitted on some European x308's. It seems like the rearview mirror has an output for these, but I'm not sure how close that wire gets to the outer mirror.

Is it possible to buy electrochromic outer mirror glass for the x308 anywhere? Since the circuitry is already available it seems like running one lead to each outer mirror is pretty trivial.

JEPC and dealer sites showed two jag parts, HNA3076AA and HNA3072AA with one being the curved/pass mirror and one being flat driver's. Descriptions on dimming, heated, etc. are somewhat conflicting though. Anyone know? Dimming outer mirrors should really be a standard feature on every car nowadays..

 

Jaguar currently sell the mirror part at £135.74 ($172.61) and lists two part numbers:
HND3075AA & HNA3075AA

My car had them fitted from the factory, although at this time I have one normal and one electrochromatic. The left one is a standard glass, probably because some cyclist in the past has clobbered it which they have a habit of doing in the UK.

 

Cheers, $175 is a hard bullet to bite but I'll keep it in mind for the future.
