Default Disc brake upgrade?

Hi guys,

I have an ‘01 XJR and I saw the other day that my rear brake pads should be replaced soon so now I kinda want drilled & slotted rotors.

Does anyone have any suggestions on drilled and slotted rotors. I found a few brands that looked nice but I wasn’t sure if there were any better options out there that I might’ve been missing.

Thanks

I've run Brembo branded front rotors with Akebono ceramic pads (both off Rockauto) and been very happy, and the rotors aren't too expensive. When I decided to replace them due to a stuck caliper roasting one side after ~40k mi (granted mostly highway driving...) the rotors had almost no measureable wear compared to new. Pads are low dusting too. Think I'll do the same for the rear when I need to replace them. Only thing I've noticed is that during extended rainy highway driving it sometimes takes a moment for the brakes to "clear" the water off the rotors before they grab, can be a bit unnerving.

Drilled rotors don't do anything for performance, and can add to the possibility of rotor warp from temperature gradients around the drills. Slotted can improve some things a bit at the cost of NVH and pad wear. otherwise xalty is right, go with the R1 kit if you have the want to do so.
