hello, need to do my tensioners next week wondering if anyone was intrested in renting their timing tools before I go rent from one of the retail places.(not sure i can make their return deadline). job will take me at least 4 days(4 hrs a day), also doing thermostat housing, waterpump, radiator, tranny fluid/filter, adding external tranny cooler and thermostat, sparkplugs, and detailing engine bay.Anything else i should consider? I'm in San Antonio,TX and the car is 98 vdp.to top it off just found a 2001 vdp that needs same job done for $2000 if can get it cheaper ill probably be the owner of 2 vdps for under$5000.Sweet i hope....
BTW thanks for the Christophers Foreign cars link, jimlombardi. Now I have a good plan b.

Check with the local Lincoln/Ford folks as they are used on the Lincoln LS/Thunderbird. Several have been able to rent the tools from their local dealers. My replacement of only the secondary tensioners took 4 hours and I cleaned the top of the engine as I went.

I rented the tools from Continental Imports. $50 plus $200 deposit. They had them to me in 3 days and gave me a phone number of their tech in case I ran into trouble.
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried one of the local ford dealers but said they could only rent the sohc unit. Since I only have tues-thurs of next week to do it, I pulled the trigger went with plan b orderd/rented set from chrisrophers forien car parts. $75 +s&h to and from.
