My wifes '02 XJR drivers door latch is broken and I'm unable to open the door. I was able to get the interior panel off and verifed the rod from the exterior handle is attached, the interior cable is intact, the latch apears to be unlocked but I'm unable to manipulate the latch to get the door opened to remove the latch.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Well I got the door opened. I had to break off the plastic cover on the latch so I could see what was going on.

If this happens to you follow the rod from the exterior door handle down then from the inside you will see a lever that should move. Mine wasn't.

Using a screw driver pry up on the lever and the latch will release.
