Default Door Latch Problems

The left front door latch on our 01 VDP is starting to act up. It's mechanism is getting stuck internally and not allowing the door to latch properly when closed and sometime it doesn't open either.

I've tried cleaning and lubing it which seems to help for a few days but then it has problems again.

The part number for the latch is GNA1080BJ but it does not seem to be available anymore.

Does anyone know of a good source for a replacement part? Does anyone rebuild my existing latch?

Are these parts that commonly fail at this age? If not, maybe I could source a used one.

Thanks

For used parts you can find the part or at minimum a yard close by using... Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
Here's one from Amazon...
Amazon Amazon
Have you checked the cable?...they are known to stretch and cause issues.
Almost forgot, check with David here... https://shop.everydayxj.com/Default.asp

Cost plus postage plus Trump tariff .

More then likely it’s the cable acting up, already replaced two on my XJR had to replace the similar setup on my old Lincoln LS, cables are readily available on Ebay for around $35.
