It happens about every 4th time I close the drivers door. I unlock the door using the remote, open the door and when I close the door, the door won't close because the latch assembly piece has partially closed and bangs into the striker on the center door pillar. I can manually open the door latch without needing to use the handle to release the mechanism and the door will close correctly. I have compared the drivers door with the passengers door and both appear to be spring loaded in the open position. This usually happens when it is really cold, 5 degrees F. If it was stiff lubricant, the latch would remain in the open position, not the closed. It is 120 miles to the nearest Jag dealer. Is there anything I can do, or should I take it to the dealership?
