Door speakers?

Yes you can, even better if you go with another standard Jaguar install such as the Alpine or Harman Kardon as you dont have to worry about changing the Jaguar audio plugs back to universal.
I have a mate who has just installed the Harman speakers into his doors which have worked out great. Now hes got the task of taking the back seats out to install the subwoofer into the parcel shelf, the wiring and also install the AMP which is needed for this sound pack.

I did this upgrade to my XJR & got the Power Amp from a breakers who was dismantling an 02 XJR. I made the extra wiring harness myself from the circuit diagrams & the whole project was quite a big job. I created a thread with the write-up on it here:

Yep, it's just a standard 6.5". Like L80OUS said, they use a proprietary plug into the speaker, but that's easy enough to change. I have some nice Eclipse 2-ways in mine, sounds MUCH nicer than the factory Alpines. The hardest part is getting the door panels off without breaking the stupid little plastic trees off.
Speaking of which, anyone know a good source for those door panel trees? I managed to break a few.

The speaker size is 6.5" for each door card. Any butil/rubber edged driver is a big improvement. I went through some pretty high end drivers to get the sound I wanted ended up with a mixture. And a few returned....
Rear doors are just for fill. So spend your money on a good set of drivers/tweeters for the front, and a fair to decent set for the rear.
Instead of cutting the factory connectors, search ebay for car speaker adaptors that look to fit, I think something like GM/VAG connectors are the same.
Many of the speaker sets come with tweeter adaptors, so something should be a near fit and silicone will do the rest. The factory fabric ones aren't bad as it goes. And the head unit's crossover works well with them, a case of comparing new ones against them.
They're low down so they need to be easy to drive, not power hungry. You don't want to over drive the headunit.
Even with premium sound the amp is weak, I added another power amp to drive additional units. An old West Indian sound guy who had probably the best car hi-fi shop in London said
"if ya can err it as well as feel it, and still hold a con vA sation widout raisin ya voice, ya dun it, gwan"
He let me hear an install, it's not about how much it cost, it's about how it's tuned.
Instead of using Jaguar's carboard stuff from the 1980's, go with the latest tech. There's so much to choose from these days it'd be foolish not to update the sounds.

Got a bag somewhere, part number is KTD300003 from your local Jag dealer, they're not standard fir tree clips, they've got a recess for the yellow button molded in the door card.

That is a lot of work, after putting it all back together did you notice any interior rattles comming from the rear while driving after unsettling everything?
