Driver door window not going down all the way
Hi
On our 2001 XJ8 - I noticed a few days ago that the driver front door window slows down and stops about 2 inches short of going down all the way. The passenger front door works properly and window goes down all the way.
The hard reset did not fix the issue. Maybe the window regulator needs to be tightened or adjusted.
Has anyone else had this problem and have a remedy for it?

If it slows down, then I would suspect some mechanical binding or sticking of the window in its tracks. You might try pulling up or pushing down a bit on one end or the other of the window, as it tries to go down. It could be just cocked a bit in its tracks. But in any event, no doubt you will have to take the panel off at some point to get at the regulator and motor.

Mystery solved.
Our Driver Front Door Check broke a few days ago. Our Indy mechanic (Scott) found out why the door was not staying out at the usual 2 stop positions.
After taking the door panel (ie door card in british terms) off, he removed the broken door check. He also found the reason why the door's window does not go all the way down.
Apparently the original owner had the door control module replaced with a new one and the original door control module was left inside the door (left loose and moving).
He removed the extra loose module and now the window goes all the way down.
The extra door module has Ford stamped on it, but it has the correct Jaguar Part# also on it.
