My son purchased a slightly used (tongue in check) 2001 XJR that has a door problem---both outside and inside door handles are broken. They just flop.

If anyone knows of a way to get the door open without destroying it, it would be a big help.

Might have to remove the driver seat to remove the door inner panel and replace the cable that will get the door open from the inside then work on the outer handle from there

 

As Lady P says your best course of action is to try and remove the door card from inside the car. Underneath the grab handle/arm rest on the door is a long Philips screw to remove and inside the door handle behind a circular cover is another screw. You should then tease the wood veneer towards the rear of the door to release it's grip on the actual door handle assembly and you should then be able to start pulling the door panel off. Removing the furflex seal around the door may help you, but be careful to to pull it out from under the sill cover.
