Default Driver's door lock mechanism is getting "tired"

The door lock on my XJR (driver's door) is getting to the point where it doesnt want to go down all the way when I lock the doors by remote (key fob) or when driving (after shifting into drive or reverse).Sometimes I forget that I have hit the remote to lock it.Then,I go to open the door and since the door lock didnt fully engage, the door opens andthesecurity system starts to beep when Iopen the door giving me a few seconds to hit the remote to disengage the security system before it goes off. I am wondering if the locking mechanism needs lubrication, or if it's in need of replacement. It's still under warranty, but I have a $200 deductible and the dealer is two hours away, so it's inconvenient to just"pop in" for a diagnosis. If it just needs lube, no biggie. However, if the locking mechanism needs replacing, I need to do that fairly soon - before my warranty expires!

I concur, lubricate that puppy. Maybe it will buy enough time when you can take care of more than one warranty issue. Have it checked out. Keep your warranty issues on a shopping list and do them all at once. Takes some of the pain out of the deductable.
