Electric problems after engine install
Hello. I have a 99 Xjr that had a blown engine. I rebuilt the engine and put it back in how it was. The engine starts fine but there are several problems;
Gauge cluster does not work at all. It say "Er" on the center console ac control. The car is in park but wants to go backwards like its stuck in reverse. It will not come out of "park" even with putting the key in the hole next to it.
I changed out the battery and waited 5 minutes before putting it in, but it did not help.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Sound like you have the linkage installed incorrectly -- do you have the service manual for that part?
The CAN buss goes through the cluster and the cluster feeds the ACC with the engine temp ... If the clusters is not working you will not get a feed to the ACC -- do a search for the ACC diagnostic --- get the error codes from the ACC ... I bet Error code 14.
Make sure everything is properly connected.

Thanks, I'm thinking that is the case aswell. I got the cluster to work. it was just a blown fuse. Now when it does the system check it says "electric fault" and "suspension fault". Any suggestions on how to diagnose this?
