Are emissions systems on 2001 XJR's the same in all states?

Are emissions systems on 2001 XJR's the same in all states?

Just occurred to me that while I am considering purchasing an 01 XJR from out of state, the smog systems may not be the same on them in all states. I live in CA and our smog regulations are nasty. Are all stock XJR's identical with regard to emissions equipment?

Hate to drive 1,700 miles home in my new Jag only to fail smog on visual inspection.

found an answer. according to a fellow on another forum all the XJR's in the US have the same emissions systems on them in 2001.

in case someone does a search for the same question

Does your friend know if this is true for XKRs, thinking of buying one out of state. Thanks

Rob,

The person you asked is long gone- the post was from 2009.

Basically cars are/were certified to two possible standards- 'California' and 'Federal' ie, everybody else. The CA limits were the tighter of the two.

Canadian standards were the same as Federal.

Found out something interesting the local Jag dealer was able to tell me if the car was a CA car with the last 6 digits of the VIN. Turns out that the car I was thinking of buying was initially sold in Santa Monica CA so I'm good. Now if I can just figure out how to buy the thing and get it shipped from out of state. Anyone know of a good service?
