Default Engine bay centre trim cover screw

Damn it, I broke my quarter turn fastener for the engine bay centre trim cover. What is the correct term for this item, and or part number. Alternatively, what would do a good equivalent job.

This is what it looks like:

and this is where it goes:

Still works, of a fashion, but I'd rather find a new one.

Thanks

Sutty

KRH100003, superseded by KRH100005.

Mine has been missing since I bought it. Not going anywhere. Makes it easier to remove it.

Yes, of course, it's not going anywhere, so that's one approach. However, if you're like me, you'd want to fix what you are responsible for having broken, and to make it 'as it was', so I'm grateful for the information allowing me to order the correct replacement.

Cheers

I don't get it.... My XJR has that fastener, but it doesn't attach to anything under it, and looking up that part number - it doesn't come with the locking piece underneath.....

What's it supposed to do? And how do you get the locking piece underneath?

Part # KRF100006 clips into the square retainer hole in the support bracket. Screw KRH100005 slots into the retainer to hold the cover in place.

If you don't have the original retainer clip, you can replace it with a common retainer clip from any TrueValue or Ace Hardware store, and a matching threaded screw. I used a threaded metal retainer and a nylon screw, which I sprayed satin black.

Very good alternative to the real deal, and probably easier to use. Excellent. I broke mine, because it was extremely hard to rotate that quarter turn, and even though I had a great big screwdriver, it just popped half of it off. I'll look to see if I can spread the grippers, just a little, to make it more of a practical solution, before I get the new one, practicing with my broken one, for fit. Don't know if that's possible, but I'll see,

If one wants similiar fastner as original that fits well. Suitable is found from same age Peugeot (406 for example) engine undertray fastner.

I found these by accident at Ace Hardware if I remember right. They are steel threaded, and I used a blind clip underneath like what CK showed above. These were gloss black, so I scuffed them and shot a few coats of satin black paint on them. No tools needed to remove the panels!
