Default Engine ID

The engine in my 2001 XJ8 was replaced by a Jag dealership. From what I understand Jaguar uses rebuilt engines for their replacement engines. I would like to identify what engine was used to replace mine. As I understand it the ID tag is located on or by the rightside cylinder head where the block joins the bell housing, which I tried to find, but couldn't. However, I will take a better look and hopefully see it.

Once I find the tag and get the number I still will need a source of information that will tell me what engine that ID number identifies meaning what year engine, AJ number, etc.

Does anyone know where I can get that info?

Thanks.

The engine serial number decodes into the year, month, date and time of the assembly, i.e., 0008131043 translates into 10:43am August 13, 2000.
