Ok good news ... nothing major. .. if that's all it is your doing ok...
before ordering a new one i would check your connection make sure it plugged in all the way, if thats ok pull the coil out inspect the boot and check the spark plug.
And to be 100% sure switch the coil with another one. See if the trouble follows the coil.
You can also unplug the coil while the car is running before you do anything else listen and feel if it's really working or not.
My thoughts. ..
Good luck.

I’ll have a look tomorrow and let you know, should be an easy fix, the mobile mechanic who diagnosed the fuel pump was messing around with the plugs, I should have checked everything after he left, my own fault

Clean or replace the spark plugs first (may be seriously fouled by the oil you poured in) before you venture into experimenting with the ignition coils.

First of all I’m livid at the mobile mechanic who diagnosed the fuel pump problem, he took all the plugs out cleaned them etc, which was fair enough, worth a try, so when I’ve looked today one of the coil packs was the wrong way round, I nearly fainted, the idiot even had to drag the delicate enough as it is wires and twist them to make it fit, he’s also cross threaded one of the bolts, so anyways I’ve turned it round the correct way and it’s running better but it’s got a slight missing on idle still. Just to check the denso on the coil pack reads normal on the driver side but they’re upside down on the passenger side? Is that correct because now I’m questioning everything.

Absolutely correct. If, on one side, the writing is normal, it will be upside down if you move it to the other side (and viki-verki).

Yeah as I thought, sounds like the exhaust is blowing, I assume I’ve destroyed something when it’s blown all that oil out, maybe the cats? The knock also went quiet one the engine got going which was pleasing.

Morning
Don't assume anything...
It's running better by correcting the coil and cleaning the plug?

Ok thats great ..
I would clean and check the gaps of the other plugs... if the plugs are old / high mileage maybe replace them..
if you don't see any other problems or codes I would get her out on the road and open her up get things cleaned out...

Little carb cleaner, throttle body cleaner ,fuel...Anything like that is fine. If it has heavy deposits a small wire brush. Not too crazy ...
The important part is the gap area..
I don't know if your scanner does live data ,if it does you can check your O2 sensors that should tell whether or not your car is running normal. Lean/Rich... and that you can do while sitting in the car no other tools involved.

It is not the time really, it is the mileage that matters.

Hahahahaha I’m sure there’s a lotion for that! I moved the coil pack and the misfire followed so got a replacement on the way, engine noise quietened down after an oil change but was coming and going, but definitely sounds like the exhaust is blowing at the cats, mot next month so the mechanic can tell me what’s wrong, dont think I’ll be able to do the cats myself, unless someone has a guide?

Morning.
Good idea on the lotion. It's working...

Let's hope It's not the cats....

Among the symptoms of a bad catalytic converter are:
  1. Sluggish engine performance.
  2. Reduced acceleration.
  3. Dark exhaust smoke.
  4. The smell of sulfur or rotten eggs from the exhaust.
  5. Excessive heat under the vehicle.
These are some of the symptoms.
From what I seen on my car it's the bottom end on the cats that are the most trouble where the cat goes into the pipe.... I've yet to ever run into a car where the cats clogged, they broken apart and started to rattle but never seen one that clogged.. Years ago I had a bud that thought his were going so he replaced them, Only to find it was an ignition problem.

By now hopefully you researched some simple test to try out... Before taking out a 2nd mortgage.

keep in touch stay safe and let us know if you find out anything else...

Hopefully Someone else can chime in with ways of testing them yourself.
Good Luck.
