I can not find the thread on the engine number / tensioner.

I went to the dealer to get some parts and supplies and I had them run a inquiry.

So I have the engine number - but I can not find the link

My engine # is MA1416120109

Surest way to tell, take your valve covers off and have a look for yourself.

 

You don't provide the MY of your car and I am having difficulty translating the serial number provided. The only MY in question is the '02. The serial number format is YYMMDDHHMM. What you are looking for is a number after 010813HHMM. Look on the driver 'B' column for the manufacture date. If Sept '01 or later you should be good.

 

'Mine also a Sept 01 build.' from a previous post says that you are probably ok but, as above, the only way to be 100% positive is to pull a valve cover. I removed my covers and replaced them twice without replacing the gaskets and without an oil leak but my labor is real cheap in case it did.

 

The sheets (3) I have are called "Direct Dealer Warranty - Vehicle Details". All kinds of information on the car

Lists it as a 2002 XJR with a "Dispatched Date" of 27-Sept-2001. My door sticker is 09/01 if my memory is correct.

Under "Serial Numbers" it lists the engine numbers as in my original post.

So using what people say -- Maybe it was made September 14 2001 at 4:12 in the afternoon. That would fit with the final build date. The car arrived to the USA in late Nov 01. Not sold for almost a year later in September 02
