Default Fans staying on too low? Still on at 165 degrees?

It was working the other day, on at 203ish and off at 193ish.

Now it seems to stay on far too long, even when I restart the car and the water temp was only 165 the fans came on.

Is there some control thingy do dad I need to replace?

I am reviving this thread, as I have a 2000 XJ8 that is running cool (fans on all the time low speed) runs about 160-180 unless I unplug a fan then it goes 200+. What gives??

I am currently working through a fuel pump swap, so it is not urgent, but I was hopng to get that done at the same time so....

How are you measuring the temperature? If with an IR gauge then the temp sensor is suspect. If with a TORQUE app or Real Gauge then the fan module (relays).

Hmm. might be the fan module- where would that be located?
I am using an OBD2 reader for temp.

Might also be a sticking AC pressure switch. When the AC is on, the fans start; when the compressor runs, fans go to high speed. If the pressure switch is sticking, it might not be getting the signal to shut down.

Pull the switch when the fans are running: if they stop . . .

Fan module is located sorta under the radiator on the left side. Accessed from under the car.

Ok- random result- I had a fuel pump faliure, replaced it and the fan/running cool problem vanished.
