Hi does anyone know where I can find a convenient place to tap into the instrument illumination circuit as I am fitting an aftermarket boost gauge and would like it to illuminate when I turn on my lights. It's a 1999 XJR.

The wiring diagrams for these cars are available online free with a quick google search, from there you’ll be able to work out which wire you need to tap into.

 

Attached is an electrical guide issued in September, 2000, covering XJs with VINs from F20645 onwards. If your VIN is prior to that, I doubt that the wire colors have changed.
