Default Foam Pad Under the Supercharger

Does anyone know what the purpose of the molded foam rubber pad between the block and the supercharger is?

It's called "Sound insulator". I checked on the Jaguar EPC and the part # is AJ82383. I just tossed mine out when I put the new coupler in my supercharger, it was getting in the way during install. I don't know if I actually lose HP from extra heat, but I haven't noticed an actual noise increase.
