Fuel pump and taillight/brakelight connected somehow?
Okay I took about a month off from this car and now need to get it going again since Im ot frustrated anymore. As most of you know I've changed the pump twice in a month and it never started again after the second change. It might have something to due with me arching all the wires to the passenger side of the tank while I was pushing the tank back into place. Ive taped up all the wires, checked most of the relevant fuses and still it wont start
Does the F/P and tail/stop lights share a relay or fuse somewhere or can one of you all knowing techs tell me of a common problem where the two of these items are failing. Everything else seems to be fine and I can get it running for a second by using starting fluid in the throttle body but it dies again in a second. Now I have a trunk light but no rear lights and barley a drip from the fuel rail when I check there.
Help!! I miss my Jag

is the pump running?
Check:
fuse (12V both sides)
relay (is it pulling in) (check voltage to the relay with key on)
ground to tank (check resistance from tank to battery negative)
other grounds you may have disturbed during the tank removal
if fuse & grounds are good, but relay doesn't pull in, swap it out with the same relay from another subsystem, if that doesn't work, carefully remove the relay cover and manually close the relay (see if the pump runs, key on)

okay, ive tested everything and all F/P electrics are working fine. So I turned to the fuel filter. Before removing the filter I decided to check the lines for kinks. Now I feel stupid, I found a kink in the hose going through the body towards the filter, straightened it and the dang thing fired right up. I am a complete idiot and that should have been the first thing I thought of.
I am going to post this in my original thread also so someone with this issue may find it there instead of having to read through a bunch. Taillight still dont work, but Ill figure that out.
