Default Fuel tank replacement

Happy New Year all!

I've been having fuel leak issues for quite awhile now. I found that the fuel supply side fitting on the tank no longer holds the quick disconnect pipe securely. I can jam it in and it'll work for awhile but it eventually works loose. To add to the happiness, I found a pin hole leak where the filler neck meets the tank itself.

Luckily, I have a parts car...a 98. It's fuel pipes seem to connect properly and there isn't any leaks that I can find. The problem lies in the fuel level sensor...the 01 has the sensor in the tank screws onto the bucket around the pump. The 98 has the sensor in he back of the tank. Does anyone know if the external sensor has the same resistance as the internal one? The service manual I have says 70-1000 ohms for the external one but nothing about the internal one.of course, if the bucket is drilled for the internal sensor I'll boot it inand be done with it...

If the external one will work, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the tank connections? I can wire the external sensor in if I know where...chuckle.

As always, thanks for any and all help!

Take care,
