Default Fuel problem

hj all
I have a 89 xj-s. I have tested the wires coming from the wire harness and all is well except the wires leading to the fuel pump no voltage. I have checked the fuses non blown. Any Ideas

Assuming a V12....

Voltage to the pump itself comes from the fuel pump relay.

The relay is triggered by the fuel injection ECU in the trunk. Specifically, the ECU grounds the relay via the orange wire. A common fault is that a problem in the ECU disables this ground circuit

So, ground the orange wire at the fuel pump relay and see if your pump circuit powers up

The relay is in the trunk, RH side, near/above the ECU....roughly speaking

Cheers

As Doug has said, and also assuming a V12.

A few things to check.

The fuel pump relay is powered up by the main relay.

The FP relay is the one in the Black socket, and next to it in the Red socket is the Main relay.

Check the wire terminals INSIDE those 2 sockets, and they have been known to "push out" as the relay is plugged in.

On the battery +ve cable, about 8" down from the terminal is a plastic cover with 2 LARGE Brown wires inside it. These are the "power" wires for those relays, and other things, and they fall off. Check them VERY carefully, coz they can be tricky to refit, due to the terminals sliding down the side of the spade instead of onto the spade, so take your time.

Inside the cabin is your Inertia switch. Our RHD cars have it on the RH "A" pillar, and is cover with a Black plastic trim. I woulod pull the button UP, and then firmly push it down to reset it. This switch will KILL the fuel pump circuit in a heartbeat.

FYI, my 1978 LHD car has the inertia switch on the left A pillar, below the dash, behind a clip on
