Default Gear shifter issues

hello I have just bought my xj8 3.2 2ooo when its cold shifting the gears its ok but when its wormed up its a bit jerky is this normal

the gear leaver is what I should have said sorry and I do have my foot on the brake lol

I don't understand what your problem is. Are you having trouble moving the gearshift lever? Or do you have a rough shifting once you put it in gear?

yes it sometimes jerks very vicious when changing through the gears when you pick witch gear you want it also jerks if you put the throttle down when your nearly stopped

Sounds like the classic A drum failure. Time to visit a transmission shop, unless you are a good tech with the appropriate tools and lifts.

is it in the gear box im no mechanic I fit double glazing. I have a 28 days on it from a garage.take it back then ???

I agree, take it back there ASAP!

For these cars, a transmission rebuild is quite pricey (new-used tranny is about $800) a complete rebuild can cost you $8k easy. It's not worth it. See what they can do for you.
